Hi everyone,
Fraser island............ done!! Next destination was the town of 1770...that's actually its real name and here comes the boring part. The name originated because it was the year good old captain cook found it!
Not a lot of backpackers do 1770 because it's only a small quiet town but we were there for one reason and one reason only ..........SCOOTEROO!!! This tour was a four hour tour and you ride around the town of 1770 on minature Harley Davison motorbikes. Imagine this.....30 Harley Davison motorbikes all in a line, side by side, everyone is kitted out with leather jackets, fake tattoos and red biker flames just tearing up this quiet little town haha who wouldn't want to do that! If you've seen the photos already then you'll of got the gist of things, it was amazing!! Me and lou side by side, revving it up, wind in our hair, we looked like something straight out of the hells angels. I would be riding along minding my own business then all of a sudden, the roar of lou's bike engine would creep up beside me as she prepares to take over! VROOOOOM!!!!!..................Lou shoots past, gracefully raising her middle finger haha All I could do was just sit back and laugh! Brilliant!
The bonus part of the tour was they take you up into the countryside to see kangaroos hence the name scooter-roo........clever? i know! The tour finishes off by watching sunset down at the beach with a big box of potato wedges with sweet chilli sauce and sour cream............utter bliss! Haha
There is a population of 64 people living in 1770 and it can't get any bigger cause its surrounded by national parks and there is one taxi but he only runs when he feels like it. 10 years ago when play stations were about in England this place didn't even have a post box , they used to pin there letter onto the big mango tree in the village and the post man would take it and stickall the reply's back onto the tree a couple of weeks later and the people used to come down and check. Mad eh
We only stayed in 1770 for 2 nights but it was a great little place the beach was nice and the hostel was great it was called cool bananas! Unbelievably clean and free DVDs plus a little puppy dog that Louise absolutely loved but not as much as you tyke if your reading this! It would be something out of a spoof film........i would be sat just watching a film in the living area and i would see Lola trot past the patio window...........wait 2 seconds...........then followed by Louise chasing after it haha
We did Scooteroo on the first day, and the second day Louise wanted to do a surf lesson in the morning because it was her last chance to surf. 1770 is the last chance to surf because everywhere north of here is the Great Barrier Reef and there is deadly jelly fish. Louise decided against it since she wouldn't be able to practice after this destination, which was a shame. I got my last surf board hire out of the east coast and we both headed to the beach, all my surfing in Noosa was paying off and today i intended to surf along the wave and master the art of turning. You should of seen me i was like a pro, the waves were perfect. As soon as was on my feet i turned straight into the wave where it hadn't started to break yet and I rode it all the way home I even put a few turns in for good measure! I actually felt like a proper surfer! I could see Louise telling people on the beach 'look that's my boyfriend out there'haha I can't describe what it feels like but when you catch a good wave its brilliant, im going to surf back home at Tynemouth!....maybe!
Anyway that night we caught the long overnight bus to Airlie beach were off to the Whitsundays next, can't wait!
Love Adam and Louise xxx

mam and dad (m) Wow-what a fab place this sounds brilliant-and lou with attitude on a harley-mint. mam and dads travels in Libya were never this exciting we just had boring old camels and roaming wild dogs (which i happened to run over a couple in my car) And it doesnt surprise me your good at surfing - you should have seen dad water skiing when i was on holiday-I was doing it on one leg after only 10 minutes ......but that was only because i had lost a ski on the way out ha ha. Watch out for the jellyfish when visting the great barrier reef and the fish with fins. Lots of love xxx
