Yesterday we didnt really do much, we stayed in bangkok an extra night just to organise our trip to camboidia. Adam wrote this blog!
Well its been a long hard day today weve made the journey from Bangkok in Thailand to Siem Reap Cambodia. We left bangkok at 7am and arrived at the hotel in Siem Reap at 6.30pm thats 11.5 hours later.........and as you can imagine, it wasnt without its hiccups.
First of all i didnt sleep a wink the night before becasue weve heard some bad stories about making the crossing at the border with scams and such. One in particulare scared me...... one person said the cambodian police planted drugs on him when he was checkin his bag and put him in jail until he paid an expensive bribe. Obviously i didnt show my fear incase louise picked up on it i stayed strong lol
The morning didnt start very well at all, well..........for me anyway i was in desperate need of the toilet so we stopped over at some random stop with the worst toilets i have ever seen which consisted of a bowl with a hole in and a bucket of water to wash it away. I was all flustered it happend so fast and the next thing i knew ooooops!! i had missed the bowl.........awww it was a nightmare but all i could think of was ....i cant wait to get out and tell louise whats just happend lol cause i know she would laugh her head off! We had a right chuckle!!!
We wernt to sure if we booked with the right tour company because half the time its them that scam you, my fear was starting to show at this point but louise was suprisigly calm about the situation and mams and dads you wont be impressed by this bit........ never give your passport to a stranger......WE DID! and they always say pay for visa in dollers at the border not to a tour guide well.......guess what we payed in thai bhat to a our tour guide lol which he took a hefty commision from im sure! Its okay knowing what you should do but when your put in that situation in the middle of nowhere and your relying on them things change.
We also met two young lads from essex who were also doing the same trip, they didnt seems as scared as me until i told them the stories haha at least we knew we were getting scammed together and to make things a little bit sweeter they payed double the price for the trip as we did.
Once we crossed the border into cambodia it was amazing, just acres and acres of paddy fields, we saw a man on a bicycle with about 30 dead chickens just hung on the back of his bike and a man on a bike with three upturned pigs.... yes upturned pigs you heard me, exactley how it sounds lol full grown pigs with hooves and everything!
Any way to cut along story short everything worked out in the end and we love cambodia its such a change from bangkok loads of greenery and really laid back. We are going to have a chill out day tommorrow cause we are both shattered going for foot massage and fish foot spa.
We apologise for the length of this blog we just wanted to get it off our chests.
love Adam and Louise xxx
