We awoke this late this morning and continued to enjoy our Special K as we do most mornings. After Laura was finally able to get into the bathroom to do her make-up we headed across the street to the train station to try to get French Metro tickets from machines with only frech writing.
On our first attempt we managed to get two tickets from Monaco to Nice but we then realised that we had only bought tickets to get back not to get there! So we had another go and managed to get the required tickets. We then had to figure out the the train system in Nice which was a monstrosity. We had to go to a petition in the middle of the floor and find train numbers that were showing on the big screen on the petitions to figure out where they were going.
Anyways, we finally found our train and headed for Monte-Carlo. The train was nothing flash. Infact its possibly the dirtiest most discusting train I have ever been on. Once we got the station in Monaco though you would have thought we were royals by the view of the station. Marble here, marble there, red carpet it was just beautiful.
We walked out of the train station and headed towards the sea. We kept walking until I saw three Ferraris following each other down the street... Then I knew we were on the Formula one track. We walked up towards the Palais Princier to get a view of Port Hercules and all those yachts. It was just beautiful.
We then headed across the front of the port past all the yachts and really wondering just how much money some of them were worth. We walked down President John F Kennedy Drive and somehow we ended up in the famous Monaco tunnel. For anyone that watches Formula one knows the tunnel I'm talking about. As it turns out that tunnel goes underneath the Monte Carlo Casino.
We stopped for an apple break outside the Japanese gardens (who'd of thought) and continued around towards the back of the casino. We found the AS Monaco Football Clubs team bus outside their flashy hotel and eventually came to the most famous corner in Formula one. The Monaco hairpin. That baby is steep. Television doesn't do it justice. After failing miserably to get a photo because I just couldn't get high enough we eventually found the entrance to the casino.
At the entrance to the casino we found some ladies dolled up in persuasive clothes looking for rich husbands. Lucky for Laura I left my money in the hostel...
Anyway we continued back around the track towards the start line and by this time the heat was really taking its toll on both of us. We watched a few people on the rollercoaster and then headed back for the train.
Once back in Nice we enjoyed an Ice-Cream and then Laura had a lay down and I surfed the net and started writing some blogs... For dinner we had some microwave lasagne's with some chips from the kebab shop across the road... don't even ask how I got them because it was a mission. After dinner we played a game of cards, koo and kan and then cheat but the game of cheat didn't last very long because Laura can't lie and keep a straight face...
Anyways we headed to bed and got ready for my birthday tomorrow and we are also of to Cannes... I don't know what to expect...
