Hi Kids!
Yipes! I see that the last blog entry was when we were in Springfield! And we've done two other shows since then and just arrived in New London CT for the weekend. Sorry about that. With the kind of schedule we have sometimes, where we're doing a one night show in one place and then another, we spend a LOT of time on the bus and that doesn't leave much time to do any blogging. I've realized that with these one nighters here and there that it might get a little boring if I do every one separately SO....unless something of interest happens at one place or another I might combine 2 or 3. Also, if there's a question anyone has or anything please let me know, leave a message on the blog or my facebook page. I would love to hear from you.
Since Springfield MA we went to Reading PA ( yeah, I think Monopoly too ) to play one night at the Sovereign Center. It's a beautiful theater, very ornate (see pictures) I think someone said it used to be a Shriners auditorium, don't know, I'll have to check the program. I try to grab a program from each theater: might be some history info in some of them. We stayed at the Abraham Lincoln hotel, very posh and just recently renovated. From one of the staff members, I was told that in a former economic downturn the place was reduced to a somewhat seedy and neglected state and that the bar had become a haven for local...how shall one say...undesirables? Anyway the Wyndam company took it over and did a complete makeover and it looks gorgeous.
I could probably turn this into a hotel review blog if I wanted to huh?
Unfortunately, with the long drive to NH ahead of us we had to get an early start of around 7:30am. Now I'm starting to appreciate the neccessity of "quiet time" on the bus. Oh, if I haven't explained that one before, it's a company rule that when we get on the bus in the morning we have to be quiet until noon. That means no talking, no music, dvds or what have you, that's so everyone has a chance to catch up on some sleep. And considering how late we're up sometimes it's a great idea!
Next stop was the Capital Center in Concord NH. Interesting theater in that the decor was an Egyptian theme and not in an overdone and gaudy way as you might expect it could be. But Concord or at least the hotel we were staying at closes up pretty early for a Friday night, no after show refreshment for me....I know what you're thinking..."Poor baby!" Well you should feel sorry for me, I work hard...Yeah right.
Well, we're in New London and ready for three shows Sat and Sun. I have some people coming from Cape Cod to see me and hopefully the snow won't cause a problem for them. Can't wait to see them.
Be back soon
Glenn
