Hi Kids!
New Haven was a blast! Great opening weekend and what a nice theater to open the show in!
Well, on opening night, we were dealing with some technical problems, that and the fact we'd been away from the show for about a week. So, the show might have felt a bit off for some but we came thru it pretty well, I thought. On Saturday, we had a matinee and then an 8 o'clock show.....sooooo...no better way to get back into the swing of things. We had some pretty full houses and good crowds. Sunday, the audience seemed to be the most responsive and vocal and that was nice. I don't know why it was, but I had a couple of "deer in the headlight" moments, kinda stumblin' on a line or two. For me, it always seems to sneak up when I least expect it, and I hate it when that happens.
The hotel was plush, I could get use to this! It has a restaurant on the top floor, overlooking the city and a bar on street level. (This is also becoming a theme) We had our opening night party there Sunday night. Mr. Prather paid for the drinks and the food... and that was sweet.
New Haven is an interesting mix...Yale University dominates the city and the culture. Yet, with all that prestige and money there is also a very visible reminder of the poor all around you. Funny how the two coexist in such close proximity to each other. But, I have to say, the center of this city is very beautiful.
Well, I'm off for a few days and then the tour starts for real and I won't see the Cape until June. Wow! Never been away from home for that long. Oh well, see you in Greenwood, South Carolina!
Be back soon!
Glenn
