Ayr was the place I dived the SS Yongalla, an English Steam ship built on order of the Adelade Ship Company and sunk on her way to Townsville in a cyclone. She wasn't foudn for a while as she didn't ahve aradio on her-she was actually sailing to Townsvill eto pick one up. Luckily for me she sunk and made one of the best wreck sited on teh South Queensland coast. She's still pretty intact and lies perfectly on the sea bed. We did two dives on her, covering bow to stern, we didn't go in due tot eh ship being a nass grave, and also you get a $5000 fine if you do go in and get found out. Saw lots of cool fishy things, and the size of them was astounding! Turtles, olive sea snakes, marble and eagle rays, coral cod, wrasse, anenome fish-all supersize, it was fantastic and to top it off we could hear the humpback whales that were near our boat singing throughout the two dives.
