Buenos Ares has to be the nicest city we´ve come to so far. Very cosmopolitan-I could almost be at home...it even has the cold weather!
We arrived here two days ago, after getting the ferry accross from montevideo. Went to grab a bite to eat, a few drinks, and before we knew it it was 5 in the morning...they certainly like to party here.
The next day we were out by 10 for a 6 hour walking tour of the city (not the best idea when you´ve only had 4 hours sleep). We saw how huge this city really is, so many parks, botanical gardens,Recoletta cemetary (where Eva Peron is buried)lakes with boats-almost like being back home.
After this we went out to a Tango lesson and show. It is such a complex dance with so much emotion and passion-first danced by guys to attract girls, then prostitues, now by everyone. Very easy to elarn the basics though and we had fun trying to be Latin! After the show came another bar in Palermo-the poshest district of the city...it used to be an illegal bar (with no license), in a suburb with no signs outside, only the bouncers on the door marking it out, which makes it seem very exclusive. One drink led to another, and before I knew it I had another night of not getting to sleep until after 5...I´m really feeling it now!
Tonight we meet our new tour leader, and pick up 3 new people. Then we head off to Chile. I will miss this city.
(new tour leader v. nice but not as good as the old one-us British like to stick together...unfortunately last night was also another 5am night...so lots of sleep on the 20 hr night bus today!)
