We left Interlaken at 7am on the train to Lucerne. Nice ride with beautiful scenery. Got to Lucerne at 9am and went straight to the hotel, only a block away. We were too early to check in but we left our luggage there and started out the day on Mom's favorite, a boat on Lake Lucerne. We bought tickets for the Mt. Pilatus tour which consists of an hour boat ride to Alpnachstad where we board the cogwheel train and climb 5500' in 40 minutes. Had to wait 2 hours for our turn to board the train. Quite a ride!
Then we took an aerial tram from the peak down to Frakmuntegg where we stopped for a while so I could take my toboggan run. It's Switzerland's longest and pretty fast too. Over a mile! Mom took movies. Then we got on some aerial gondolas. Mom had to get on these things that only hold 4 people and don't fully stop. She did good and we rode these down to the bottom. A city bus ride from there (included) for half hour and we were back at the hotel.
After a brief rest, we went downstairs to the restaurant where I had Sicilian lasagna and Mom had a Nice prawn salad. Delicious but expensive as is all of Switzerland. A bottle of water, Coke or juice is $3-4 everywhere. Hamburger with fries, $25. I took pictures of the McDonald's menu.
Walked around the block and back to hotel room, ready for tomorrow.
