I had 2 choices today. We were in the middle -10 min drive either way - hiking up the mountain, or checking out down town.
Our tour guide is proving to be pretty useless, so I had to do my own research. I spent the morning looking at the map and googling Stowe and the hiking trails on the mountain to see if there were any easy ones and researching the gondola ride up to the top. I chose to go check out the mountain.
We were supposed to meet at 10am to make brekky, but that turned into a bit of a disaster zone, so by the time we finished and cleaned up we didn't end up leaving the house until after midday. Such a waste of time.
We drove up to Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont. Some did the hike to the top which was around 3 hours, and some took the Gondola. I'm sure you can guess which I did...
The treks were all difficult ones, so I did not join the others, instead I looked around abour half hour or so then caught the Gondola back down. I had no other options to get back to town so had to call a taxi.
I got there around 2ish and spent 2 hours wandering the main street, which wasn't very big. I then took the "recreational path" which led to home. I took my time and really enjoyed the stroll. It was quite a peaceful winding track through some parklands and across a few little bridges and it took about an hour, so I got home around 5.30pm.
We made tacos for dinner and then had down time of board games and pool, etc. We played a few drinking games that were lots of fun. Boom! and King's Cup. I actually had a good night in and enjoyed the games!
A bit of a late night though so I'm sure most of us will sleep tomorrow in the van during the 4-5 hour drive to Boston.
