We were meeting in the hostel lobby at 11am to go on a tour to Harvard, so I went out for a walk at 9am. I walked along Bolyton Street where they run the Boston marathon and where the bombings were. There's some pretty cool churches down that end of town.
I passed through a nice little park that had some nice gardens and fountains.
Met everyone back at the hostel at 11 and we caught the train to Harvard for a tour. It was quite interesting and there are so many buildings. Afterwards the others all went for lunch but I wanted to keep moving, so I went on my own and explored Harvard/Cambridge for an hour or so.
I was done by 3ish, so then I caught the train back a little bit past home to go down and check out the Boston Tea Party museum. I didn't end up going in as it was a bit pricey, but it was nice down by the water.
I walked back up towards home and past the park again that I saw this morning, to try and find the Cheers bar where they filmed the show. I found it with a little help from google! It was pretty packed and there was a line to get in. So I went next door to the gift shop, browsed around and then followed a lady down a staircase to see where it went, and it was a back entrance to the bar! I suspect maybe a staff entrance, but no one said anything to me! So I got inside, but it was busy so I just took a few snaps then left.
I went back to the hostel around 5.30pm as we were having birthday cupcakes at 6pm. It was the birthday of 2 of the boys on tour....on the same day! Weird! Then half left to go to the baseball, and the other half went out to dinner and to wait around to meet up with the others after the baseball. I was pretty tired after a big night last night, and so much walking today, so I opted for an early night. Plus I was a little Bostoned out since I came here before. I do love Boston though!
Last day tomorrow! Well for the first half of the tour. We drive back to New York tomorrow. In the evening we say goodbye to some, then 5 of us are flying to Vancouver on Monday for the 2nd leg. Can't wait to get back to Canada!
