Since a certain Irish lady had recommended visiting Carcassone we decided that we should pay it a visit. On the way we visited Rennes Les Bains which features in Kate Mosses' novels. Well Dai was in his element, as we pulled up we wre met by a lady in a floaty dress playing a wooden flute trying to hitch a lift. We encountered shops with encouraging messages about inner calm. I knew it wasn't going to be long before Dai started talking about the merits of a Kaftan and how it would be a practical piece of travelling clothing, we had to get out quick!
Carcasonne is beautiful and it easy easy to see why it is the inspiration for Walt Disney's castle in Sleeping Beauty. We thought that all the towns we visited in the Pyrenees looked like they had sprung straight out of the middle ages but Carcasonne is even more spectacular. Beautiful winding streets and an incredible history. We fought the Americans, Australians and Germans for the best photo positions (bloody idiots why do they always just stand there when your trying to take a photo. To be honest I'm not sure I was that polite at times!). Stopped for a Crepe and an over priced beer, seriously you'd think it was a rarity the prices they charge. All in all a fantastic recommendation, thanks Sara and Kev!
Items Abi has lost/Forgotten:
€1 (lost in the dirt after I tried to stick it to dave's back with suncream)
Items Dave has broken:
We thought he'd broken the roof but it turned out that the whole roof actually lifts up! Brilliant, no more Quasimodo style hunching for us anymore! ( Dave has suggested that his discovery should cancel out any previous damage, this suggestion has been swifty dismissed)
Scores in the Tractor game to date:
Abi 3 Dave 1
