We arrived in Croatia not really knowing what to expect. Not somewhere we initially planned on going but due to everyone we met raving about it we decided to see what's there and take the coastal route SE before maybe getting a ferry across the Adriatic to Italy. We were not disappointed! The coastal road seems to hang to the rocky mountain edge all the way down, overlooking crystal clear waters and numerous islands just off the mainland. Senj was our first stopping point and we were pretty chuffed to find an appartment with sea view balcony for only €20 a night! Spent an evening sitting on the balcony watching thunder and lightening pass over from the sea before heading into Senj the following morning; an interesting little town filled with lots of narrow alleyways for streets which we soon discovered was typical of Croatian towns. Sad to move on but, as you'll soon read, the rest of Croatia was equally as appealing.
