Well, today is my penultimate day in school, I'm utilising it well as you can see. I thought I'd take the opportunity to tap away one last little entry from Saraburi before my parents arrive and I embark on the next three months of my journey.
So where to next? Well, my lovely mum and dad get here tomorrow evening, and I absolutely can't wait having not seen them for over five months (and they're bringing an empty suitcase to take back my many, many purchases!) We've got a chocka-block itinerary lined up, first spending a few days in Bangkok and then heading up to my little town to give them a taster of what my life here has been like. Next Tuesday we head down South to Krabi where we're spending a week on the unbelievably gorgeous island of Railay, in a pretty luxurious resort. My friend Kat's going to be arriving just as they're leaving and we're going to plan the rest of April island hopping on the Andaman Coast (Phuket, Phang-Nga, Ko Phi Phi, maybe Ko Lanta) and then popping across to the Gulf Coast (Ko Samui, Ko Phangan, Ko Tao). I may well miss the next Full Moon Party, but I will get a tan!!!
The proposed plan of action from there is to head back to Saraburi for a day towards the end of April, which'll break up the journey and give us a chance to do some laundry, before meandering up to Laos. After a week there chilling, tubing, and drinking Beer Lao, I'll be going it alone and crossing the border into Vietnam where I'll spend a fortnight working my way down the country, taking in Sapa, Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. And, as if that isn't enough, from there I'll be boating into Cambodia. A bit of time on the beach in Sihanoukville, then taking in the history around Phnom Penh before heading West to Siem Reap to see the legendary Angkor Wat. That'll bring me back towards Thailand where I'll spend a few days saying my goodbyes (and most probably doing laundry!) before heading to BKK airport at the start of June for my flight to Kuala Lumpur. That seems so far away I've not even got so far as planning what I'll be doing my two weeks in Malaysia. All I know is that I've got a flight home booked from Singapore leaving on June 20th which I should really try to be on.
So, there's the next few months of my life, all mapped out, so you have a rough idea of where I'll be and when. I'm sooo excited about travelling but will be sad to leave my town, friends, and mango and sticky rice lady! My time in Thailand has been one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had, and five months in I'm still pinching myself that I'm out here living the life I am. I feel so at home here and so happy, and am not really all that sure I'm ready to trade it in for a city job and student loan repayments, so don't be too surprised if I decide to head back this way in autumn for another semester and another stint of travelling :P!
Thank you for enduring my long waffley blogs and joining me on my adventures so far. I've enjoyed keeping you all up-to-date with my time in Saraburi and my weekendly excursions across the country, and hope to keep blogging away over the next few months (although you'll be relieved to know that as I'll be paying for the internet from now on they will most probably be a lot more succinct :P!)
