My last few days with the family were lovely. I spent Friday afternoon cooking Thai soup with the grandmother, apparently she really likes me even though I don't speak hardly any Thai and all she knows in English are the odd few words. It was really funny as she thought if she spoke really slowly I'd understand. I spent a lot of time nodding and smiling. But we had such a nice time, in spite of the language barrier, if anything it made it all the more authentic.

The latest selection of monkey photos are from Lopburi, which is about an hour from Saraburi. The family took me there on Saturday, after going to Wat Phutthabat, just on the outskirts of the Saraburi province. It's a temple which is reknowned for the Buddha's Footprint, and it's really beautiful, as you can see.

Nearby the temple is an awesome market selling the most amazing looking food treats, not that I know what the majority is, but we had some coconut milk and little coconut cake things and they were yummmmmy!

Lopburi was super, definately going to have to make a another trip there. There's literally monkeys all over the streets, and they've taken over the shrine of Prang Sam Yot. Ironically, we were feeding them through the bars from inside the shrine, talk about role reversal. It was so lovely seeing them running around and doing as they pleased, including chasing each other along roofs and electricity cables. The baby ones were so weeny, literally the size of my hand, I could so have just snuck one in my bag.

On the way back we went to a japanese restaurant on a lake called Oshimi, and the food was scrum - sushi, huge langostine, and I even tried snail and jellyfish, which I'll admit I wasn't massively keen on, but well done me for trying?!

I moved into my new apartment on Sunday. it's within walking distance of the school/shops/market and right nextdoor to the two guys from my programme, and we went out for a bite to eat at the night market last night. It's very spacious, but pretty sparse as only has a bed, dresser, and wardrobe (lots of floor space if anyone wants to visit???) There's a little balcony with a sink where I can wash my clothes, which I did yesterday.

Mom-Jeab gave me so many things to take to the new place, bed linen, bowls and cutlery, a washing basket, cleaning stuff, a mini ironing board and iron (so cute!) as well as little purses to keep things in and loads of stationary bits for school. She's so generous. I'm going to go and see them tomorrow at the Doctors clinic as it's only round the corner from me.

I'm at school now, first day today, eek! My first art class is at 11 and is with P4, better get myself ready. Have seen lots of the kids around this morning and they look lovely, I'll let you know if they really are.
