Our APT tour starts with a relaxed start to the morning with a welcome breakfast - then off on a tour bus around the city to see the key attractions of Paree!
In group "Yellow" of two groups green and yellow, we headed out to explore Paris, our tour guide was very informative with the most exciting and interesting things to see in the city.
Paris has an immediate ring around the close vicinity and these are all the oldest and most traditional of the buildings and architecture, of approximately 2.2 million, and there are no allowances for any high rise sky scrapers in this part of the city. (Although we were shown one that must have crept through the building code guidelines) I forget what the next population jump is for the outer suburbs, but believe that the total population for France at the moment is around 66 million. Lucky most of them where out of town for our line up at the Eiffel Tower later today.
Some of the city highlights included; Arc De Triomphe, down the Champs Elysees Avenue, past the Grand Palais, to the famous Place De La Concorde. On past the Lourve, and Pantheon, Notre Dame and Opera House, stopping at a tranquil garden open to the public now of Palais Royal, which once was a private garden.
Next on the itinerary, a little overcast, and some sprinkles of rain we stop for a nice hot Cafe Latte at a coffee shop in front of the Hotel Des Invalides, such a perfect view.
Excited, next we arrive at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower, to find only a short wait to pass through security then to the lift - with unbelievably ...........no line, no wait, not even a wait for the lift!!
Level 2, we find a cool breeze has us all - pull out our wind jackets, where we walk around the tower, looking; north, south, west, east for perfect views, it was hard to make the decision when to return to the foot of the tower. For some reason the Eiffel Tower embraces you with all of what Paris has to offer, and the passion that the Parisians developed for this city.
We decide to stay longer than the tour group and then make our way down across the street to the River Seine for a cruise on a river cruiser with commentary, one of Sharyn's favourite tours when she has visited Paris before, the sun pokes its head out for the Seine - only showing off her best!
Returning to the where we boarded, we couldn't resist the Crepe-re for three of us and for Cherie, it was ice-cream for such a sweet pea, the Frenchman in white cap said.
We arrive back to the hotel for a short break before leaving for dinner and show at the famous Moulin Rouge, Feerie. What a finale to finish a great day, the three course dinner was scrumptious and the show was mesmerizing, with amazing costumes, non-stop entertainment, and the original Can-Can sealed the night with a need to scream..............YeeecK! What a fantastic day!!!
