Sleep in – sounds too good to be true!
9.30am went to the main Princess Theatre to learn all about the ports we were stopping at – Explore Ashore! Alaska Port Talk – history and what to do. Interesting and will be useful but then found out it was on the TV in our cabin so the sleep in could have been longer – grin.
Cherie they have Zumba@Sea every morning! Not proud to say but no I didn't go!!
Every day we get a daily guide to life at sea – it’s called the Princess Patter. The amount of things you can do is amazing, abundant entertainment, exercise programs, food available 24 hours at different locations, three pools – outside, inside and a plunge pool on the very top deck.
We decided to explore to find our bearings on the ship, as there are so many places to go, it’s very easy to get lost, and as the Stand Up Comedian said the night before, he loves coming on these cruises to ask anyone looking lost where are they going, and often their response is I don’t know!! It’s so easy to get lost on these big ships.
Lunch we choose Asian Cosmopolitan Buffet and Sushi Station which was decorated with carved watermelon and turnip flowers. Then we met the Naturalist on board – Doug Capra to hear about information on when and where to see wildlife whilst on the cruise. He also did a talk at the Theatre "On the Surface of Mystery – Alaska Whales and Marine Mammals.
Cherie, Dani, everyday they have Princess Pop Choir – the ship version of Glee or Cairns version of Soul Song you just bring your voices, rehearse and you get ready to sing in a performance at the end of the cruise.
Time just before an early formal dinner – Captains Welcome Aboard Party, for Mum and I - a swim in the indoor heated pool, actually we started in the spa and shouldn’t have started there as we didn’t get out to go in the pool, we did things the wrong way around, you should always go pool first then spa, as it’s way too cold to get into a pool after a spa and especially in Canada.
Just as we were about to walk out the door all dolled up for the party, Mum yelled out dolphins! There were hundreds of dolphins flipping and swimming in the waves made from the ship. Looking up the map and types of marine animals in the area, I believe they were Pacific White Sided Dolphins and we were in the Hecate Strait heading to Ketchikan our first port of call tomorrow. All day it was foggy and cleared in the afternoon for the sighting, again lucky with weather!
Captains Welcome Party – was a meet and greet in front of a Champagne Glass Waterfall in the Atrium on the boat, it was spectacular.
We had dinner in the Bordeaux Dining Room and joined a couple from Michigan, had lots of good laughs with them, we all then headed to the Princess Theatre for the Motor City Show, which was a Motown show cast of 12 and a 9 piece band. We also had some formal pictures taken, that we were really pleased with.
Mojito Cocktails with background Modern Piano entertainment in Crooners Bar to end the night.
