US and Canada hotels so far are great for check out – 12 noon, so much better for folks like us that are late risers. So it was pack when we woke, leave a few bags at the hotel, and then a taxi to Canada Place, the ship terminal.
Wow, they are organised with these Alaskan Cruises, as soon as the taxi stop – porters take your bags, and you are on a line to go through immigration and check in. Check-in was not much to it, as I had completed all paperwork online before we left Australia months ago. Very efficient 20 out of 10!!
Our room was ready, and we were onboard at 2pm, after arriving at 1pm.
Room – comfortable mini-suite (not sure why called mini as definitely big room with lounge area, bathroom with bath and a huge balcony, really wide, we are mid ship. Level 9 – D for Dolphin 401. Our cabin attendant is Ricky. Champagne on arrival and fruit platter delivered every day.
Embarkation lunch was first at the Horizon Restaurant on Deck 14, then we ventured out to the pool area same level where they had the Sail Away party, when we left the Dock at 4.30pm. The music was fantastic – Jamaican lead singer, he had everyone up and dancing and finished with the conga line! The day was 23 degrees and partly sunny.
4pm safety drill and we had a late dinner after arranging room, internet, and confirming day tours for port stops.
Finished the night with going to the Welcome Aboard Show, which included a stand up comedian, he had us all in belly laughs, why is it that you can never remember the jokes to tell others!!
