Day 1
We got up at 6am and had to watch a video about the island as it is a legal requirement as it is a world heratige site. It was mainly about not feeding dingos (wild dogs), go to the toilet in pairs and how to drive on sand etc. Lots of it went in as you can imagine at 6.30. So then we met our group, a real interesting mix as I told you. hehe. We then went to the workshop to load up all the camping gear. It was a bit of a mission as you will see when my pics finally go up the storage in the van was in the roof. Then onto Woolworths (the supermarkets here are called woolworths, confusing I know) to get suippllies for the trip. Then onto the dock to catch the 11 am ferry. We got to Fraser and had an itinery given to us by the company and followed it right to the north of the island to Indian head. It rained on the way and we didnt see any other cars driving on the beach which was a bit wierd. Luckily by the time we got to the Indian Head the sun was shinning and it was a boiling hot beautiful day, which held for the rest of the trip. After climbing Indain Head we then went to Champagne pools, which are tide pools that always have bubbles on the top cause of the waves, they were so much fun, and the only part of the sea you can swim in on the isalnd as the surrounding waters are full of tiger sharks and jellies. Unfortunately we didnt spot any sharks or whales. Rubbish. In the eveing we raced to find a spot to camp as you have to be off the beach by a certain time each day due to the tides. We found a spot just off the beach, and set up camp in time to watch the amazing sunset from the beach. It was really pretty. Then me Kirsty and Lindsay got pretty drunk on goon, as the rest of our group basically just didnt. hehe. We had fun though. hehe.
Day 2
Today we started by stopping at the shipwreck on the beach, its really cool, see the pics when I finally get them up. Then onto Eli creek and finally onto lake Wabby, this was our favorite place it was soo much fun. In the evening I decided to drive to camp as we wanted to make sure we found others to socialise with, we found a whole area full of other campers so were very happy and after our pasta dinner we took our goon in search of some socailble people.
Day 3
Today we just went to Lake Mckenzie, the most popular lake on the island, it is sooo blue andclear and the sand is famous for being so fine you can clean your teath, wash your hair, exfoliate and clean jewlery in it (apparently) well we tried it all, with many a strange look from the sunbathers. hehe. Then we just headed back, a bit early as the Spanish guy was panicing, to catch the 4pm ferry.
