So Angus waters was quite fun. On our first day we hired a surf board (me and our frined Jess did anyway), just to get to the beach to find no surf what so ever, so that wasnt too much fun. We then had a quiet night in watching saw4, eewww. The next day we decided to do the 1770 tour, it was really funny, it was just a local guy that took us around the tiny town, pointing out the very minor sights, but for just $8 I suposse we cant complain. Then we spent the afternoon on the beach and decided to go to the local tavern in the evening. It was an experience, there was a live band, and as it is the only pub in the entire area it was full of locals.
So the next day we got back on the Oz bus to head for Kroombit, which is a cattle station based in the middle of nowhere. We got there and had the opportunity to go horse riding to round up some goats, and as much as I dont really like horses I thought well this is prob going to be fine and a really fun experience. I was wrong. hehe. I got given a horse called Molly who I, at first thought was fine, but after she ran me into a tree, nearly knocking me off, I changed my mind!! After that she obviously sussed me as having no confidence or experience with horses and refused to do anything I told her to. So we just went where ever she wanted to. When we finally got all the goats in the pen and I managed to get off of the horse (never again I feel), we then did some goat rodeoing. It was soo much fun. Basically we were in teams of 3 and one of us had to catch the goat, the other one turn it over and the third pretend to brand it with a fake brand. It was really funny to watch and then it came to me, Jess and Ceri's turn. Now I think Australians have a really old fashioned opinion of women as they said we needed a man in our team to help, you can imagine my reaction. So then they just decided to take the mick I feel. hehe. The first goat they gave us managed to climb the 8ft fence and jump back into the pen before Jess got anywhere near it (see my pics if you dont believe me!!) So then they gave us a baby one. It was about the size of Oreo and obviously terrified but alot harder to catch as it was so small. But we managed to, but needless to say we were not the fastest.
After that we headed back to the station, where by the way, we were sleeping in glorified stables. hehe. and had a few beers before dinner. After dinner we all sat around the fire and then one of the old guys at that worked there/owned the place gave us a talk on the size of the place and the amount of cattle and goats they had etc. and then taught us how to crack a whip. It was soo hard, and I think I only managed to do it once! Then it was mechanical bull riding! Now this was hard!! I lasted about a second as did most people but some people were really good. Although alot of the guys potentially did some perminant damage. hehe. Then I got an early night well 11 ish!.
The next day another early start, leaving Kroombit at 7am! Knowing there was a long 10hour trip ahead to Airlie beach. We were suposed to stop to do lawn bowling on the way, something I have been looking forward too but the bowls club was shut. Rubbish. Luckily though I slept most of the way.
I am now in Airlie Beach, a strange name for the place as the beach is tiny and you cant swim cause of stingers. But they do have a manmade lagoon to swim in. We went out to a club last night and did some dancing. it was so much fun, havent been out dancing for ages!! And tomorrow we go on our boat! So excited. and tonight we are meeting up with most of our big group of people again so thats pretty cool too.
