Arrived safe and sound in Bangkok at 3.30pm on Friday 12th October. Unfortunatley for us, neither of our backpacks managed to get here though! After a form filling session with the airport staff we got ona bus to the Khao San Road area, basically backpackers galore! Got a nice, cheap hotel and got our bearings! Saturday we hit the Chatuchat weekend market which had everything we needed to replace our belongings, except my contact lenses, but we reframed from buying and tried to stay positive!! After a great night out with all our new mates watching the footie, England/Estonia and then the rugby, England/France, at 2am in the morning, we chilled the next day, sampled the lovely food and waited for Jem's backpack to be delivered! A very happy moment-some clean clothes!!
We've also visited a place called 'Little Arabia" which is full of cafes and water pipe bars, took a look inside Jim Thompson's house, the american entrepreneur who promoted the thai silk industry to the western world and then mysteriously went missing in Malaysia never to be found again! Finally at 11pm last night I received my bag, what a relief!!
Today we had a very early start and visited the Damnoen Saduak Floating market (see picture), two & a half hrs outside of bangkok. Great fun, very touristy but again some lovely noodle soup!! Thank god it's healthy!!!
Tomorrow we head up North so will keep you posted!
Miss you all lots!
