We had a touch of a disappointing day today. We went out in the early morning for our first drive in Lucky's van. When he shuttled us from the entrance to our camp yesterday, it was great that he went fast. It meant we got a good tent. On a safari drive, it wasn't so good to go fast. We were the only van that didn't see a lion. We just zoomed along probably passing thousands of lions, but not seeing them. We did see some kudu, a million impala, giraffe, zebra, warthog, elephants, and rhino. It would have been great if no one else saw lions, but they did. Some even saw leopards. I am never getting in Lucky's van again.
After the drive we had a tasty breakfast. It is amazing that they cook all of this on a fire--no adjusting the gas to get a lower heat.
Following breakfast we got ready to go to the pool at the camp we accidently went to yesterday. Noah and I did not swim but it was nice anyway. We did buy suitable flashlights as my tiny keychain light wasn't cutting it.
We returned to the camp for a suitable lunch of sandwiches. I've avoided the salad and only ate the fruit with a peel. I really hope I've made good decisions. Of course the water I use to brush my teeth might do me in. Noah and I took a very hot nap on a bench that apparently had monkeys swinging over it. We missed those.
Our evening drive back with Patrick was good. At one point we saw a bunch of zebra, impalas, and wildebeasts all together on a grassy plain. That you don't see in a zoo. We did have a moment of excitement when a guy drove by and told us where to find a leopard. We raced there with no luck. Many others in our group also raced there. I hear one group saw something but I don't believe it since we were the first there.
We had another great dinner and nice conversation before calling it a night. I better see some damn cats tomorrow.
