Just a short post to say that I'm finally a little homesick. That is in no way an indication that I am not having a good time. I've already updated my application with Semester at Sea to come back as soon as I can. But, we got a DVD from my mom of Bobby Flay challenging the owner of Auntie Em's in a cupcake cook-off. I'm so proud of my mom for figuring out how to record the show! If you are not familiar with this show, let me explain. Bobby Flay is a celebrity chef on the Food Network. He finds some restaurant owner who is good at some particular dish and challenges them to beat him at cooking their specialty. Auntie Em's is a very cute place in Eagle Rock, our LA hometown, that has amazing cupcakes among other things. Watching the show, both Noah and I missed those cupcakes a lot and the shots of LA made us miss home a bit too. In the end, Bobby won with some weird gingerbread and mango cupcake. The judges didn't appreciate the simplicity of a red velvet cupcake.
Luckily, to combat this homesickness, Noah and I are planning a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. Carrie the physician's assistant is coming too. She's really great and I enjoy traveling with her. In an email some time ago my mother asked if my peers were classy. I've secretly been mocking my mother for such an odd turn of phrase, but Carrie is definitely a classy peer. She enjoyed tea with me at the E&O in Penang and we're planning to hit the Peninsula in Hong Kong. We also had a great time in KL together.
Well, enough being homesick! Disneyland magic will cure me and mail from home always helps too.
