DAY 14 Thursday 11.2.2010 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
This day it was very tidewater (nousuvesi) in the Indian Ocean, more higher than usually so
it was very dangerous too. Just before our lunch we heard that somebody was screaming. It
came from the ocean, about 50m from the beach. We saw one man in the water but he didn't
look like drowning. Everything was solved when we realised that he needs help - not exactly
for himself but for his friend who was about 8min under the water at all. We took her from
water and brought to the beach, she was breathing. We tried to get somebody call ambulance
but we were told that it's not so easy. So one of the locals got his car and took that girl
to the hospital. Even though situation sounds bad that girl survived. Once again thanks for
that English couple and Mikadi beach owners/workers who where very important part of saving
that girl.
One local woman (friend of that girl) was very angry for local people who where swimming at
the same time in the ocean. Not becouse swimming but becouse they didn't help her. Only
'Mzungus' (white people) noticed that there is somebody in trouble. That's what we were
wondering too...
In the evening we took some beers and played pool becouse our last day in Mikadi. After that
day, it was great evening! =)
