DAYS 15-17 Friday - Sunday 12.2.-14.2.2010 Tanzania -> Zambia, 52 HOURS IN TRAIN

On friday we left mikadu beach behind and headed to the Tazara railway station. We didn't

have any tickets, what maybe wasn't the best thing.. We couldn't buy tickets to second class

cabin cos we would have bought all the six places cos they didn't mixed girls and boys. So

we had to bought the whole first class cabin (four beds) and it wasn't so cheap. Maybe a bit

over our day budget, so no beers to boys in train? ;)
The first traveling day was supersuper hot! And it didn't helped att all that our fan wasn't

working, but hey it's Africa, so we don't complain, yeah right? The first class cabin wasn't

worth its name, but we could survive, thanks for not sunny days:)
The train did a lot of stops, hard brakes and we really didn't allways even know that are we

still hanged up to the other parts of the train.. I think the first day and night were the

worts but after that everything was okey. We met some funny and robbed polish girls

(Magdalena Maria and Natalie), visit couple of times in the train restaurant, (where was

basicly only chips, chicken, tomato and undone red onion) bought some local donughts,

lauhghed at funny korean turists, looked the beautifully scenery and animals (Giraffs,

zeebras, antilops wilderbeasts etc) and of course slept ;)

On Sunday we reached our destination about at 5.15 pm (we were supposed to be there at 1 pm

but cos it's africa: "there is no clock, there is only time"). In the train staion we found

the other mzungus (white people) and took a mini bus with them to Lusaka and Lusaka

backpackers. There was a lot of lumps and bumbs on the way (for example we changed our bus

one time and rearranged our luggage three times..) but we made it to the Lusaka backpackers

where wasn't any room for us cos we didn't make a booking in advance, damn! It was almoust

11 pm and we didn't have any place to sleep. Luckily there was another backpackers place

just around the corner where was room for us and we got a roof to our heads. Still the

evening wasn't the best cos there was no power, so no shower yet and maybe not the best

feeling, to go to sleep feeling dirty?
