So I've come to the (grateful) conclusion that I can't get a free weekend to save my life!
Much better than a lack of things to do though, so I'm definitely happy about that. I was reallllllly debating about flying down to Vietnam by myself over CHristmas, but I only get a week off and there was just too much I want to see. I don't want to half-ass a trip down there, so I decided to hold off. Hopefully Miss Carlee Potter will be coming over in a short 9 months and we'll tour SE Asia together for a few weeks when my contract ends!
Instead, I think I'll spend NYE on Jeju Island, which is this beautiful honeymooners paradise. toooooo bad i'll be alone. but ya know, tis life. anyway its a beautiful volcanic island with Unesco World Heritage Sites - basically meaning unique to the world, and we'd stay in a hotel right on the beach. watch sunrises, scooter up sides of volcanoes, and have the best peanut alcoholic drink known to the world? Peanut makkeoli? No clue, but sounds amazinnnnng.
I also am going down the coast next weekend and staying with a friend doing a girls night. which i've been in desperate neeed of ... so needless to say anything involving girlfrienddddddds and wine is gonna be a hit!
I also found a bike to buy today also. I've been walking to work every single day.. which is saving me $9 a week on transportation. Not much, but it adds up for sure. so now i'm only really paying for transportation on the weekends. Always gooooood things.
Just random news I guess, but I figure I want to remember more than just the wacky things my lovely students say.
BUT SINCE YOU ASKED ;)...............
I asked my 1st graders to tell me about a time they learned something new. One girl wrote the following (edited for general understanding of course):
"Once I learned something new. I learned how to be kind. Its important to be kind. Because before I didn't have many friends. I was bad and my friends were bad to me too. So I learned how to be kind. Now I'm kind to my friends and everyone. Except boys who hit me. "
I laughed when I read it and told her, "You got it, it's always ok to be mean to those kind of boys. You can even hit back."
Smart girl.
