wonderfullll day today. Went with Anna to a church in Jamshil. Wasn't really my thing, but we met a girl in Insadong, Megan, last weekend, and she invited us to come to a bible study and then go out to dinner with them.
Most fun weekend yet! We went to this bible study which was like 45 minutes, and then we went out to dinner in Itaewon... which is like the foreign district of Seoul. Aka - we ate at the All American Diner for dinner. I had a burger and fries for dinner and the menu was in english. That's all I need.
We went to the bathroom there though, and there was a sign on one of the doors. Yes we can read the signs but...... they're still written by Koreans. The bathroom stall was not "out of order," ..... it was "out of control." Dyingg. Can only imagine what was going on in there.
SO ANYWAY after dinner we hit up the store called "What the Book?" Which issss... a used book store andddddd! They're all ENGLISH BOOKS. All the CHeslea Handler books were there, which if I didn't have my Nook, I wouldve been buying them all there. Because they're next on my list to read and I desperately need some mindless activities to do here.
My favorite part of the store was that the Sex and the City books were categorized in the Self Help section. Couldn't agree more.
We continued on our journey to a coffee place, where we were all talking. We had a pretty culture-rich group, with Anna and I repping America, these two girls Erica and Katya from Canada, Nohemie from Congo, another girl from Kenya, and Eden and Emma from South Africa. We all hung out there for a while, ate drank and were merry, and then we headed back to the subway station.
Erica told us that one of the other guys in her group had told her what a coincidence we (Anna and I) found each other. And she was like, I told him, no ... you guys met through the school and you both work for the same hakwon. And then he said.. "Nooo... it's a coincidence because they're both pretty...."
Which brought her to ask us if any Korean guys had hit on us yet. Which is surprising that no... we haven't been, because from what I heard coming into this, Korean men lovvvvvve American girls. And as Ive been told, my blonde hair and blue eyes stick out like no tomorrow.
Then, we obviously jinxed ourselves because as we walked home from our subway stop, a korean guy legit pulls a 180 from where he was walking and goes, "How are you?"
Hilar.
So tomorrow Anna and I are going on a Prayer Mountain retreat. This is more church I've had in my schedule in 2 days than the last 2 years, but I'm actually excited. You go up to the top of this mountain. .. and there's these separate prayer locations, and it's literally silent and you can just... pray... or think or whatever. Supposed to be beautiful and I can't wait.
Highlight of my day was probably still the Out of Control toilet though.
