Havent been feeling too good these last few days - which serves me right for telling everyone that I have a cast iron stomach and never get ill on holiday!!! Nothing too bad, but just not feeling on top form. Today we decided to have a pool day - heard there was one in town which you could use if you spent $5 on food - it was tiny so as we had heard of another one at an exclusive hotel decided we should check it out. It was so beautiful but VERY expensive - it cost us $12 plus tax just to use the pool - drinks and food were extortionate but as I wasnt eating and only drinking water, wasnt too bad- was worth it. It was lovely, so relaxing with no dirt, roaches or flies - shame it clouded over, but it didnt spoil our indulgent afternoon! Was feeling so good decided to go the whole hog and went for a foot, hand and shoulder massage from somewhere in town - it was SO LOVELY, feel so chilled and still got another day off before school starts again. Off out again to try some food and hopefully will be back to normal - feels weird not having a beer or two with the other volunteers, but just dont fancy it - I am definitely ill if I am off the booze as most of you probably know :). The two other 'golden oldies' I have been hanging out with for the whole time I have been here are finished and hearding home this weekend, so feeling a bit sad that I wont have them here for my last week. We have had such a giggle and we manage to turn most things around and have had lots of fun. We enjoyed the ladyboy show - although some of the new volunteers were a bit upset by the old Western guys oggling the young dancers. I am feeling tougher now and just ignored them - there's a seedy side to Siem Reap that always comes with poverty, but at least we are trying to get some of them out of the '''karaoke'' bars and into jobs with the sewing classes and training restaurant, so as you cant change the world at least we are doing something. The new volunteer arrivals have that rabbit stuck in the headlights'' look that I did on my first week so I can empathise with them - told them you get used to everything soon enough!! I have booked my flight to Thailand to see my pal Shirley, so that is cheering me up. She is meeting me from the airport and we are heading to Pattaya so that will be brilliant and an unexpected treat. Speak soon. xxxx
