After breakfast and a goodbye to Betsy, I had a few hours free this morning so I went to visit the walled convent that sits on 5 acres of land within the city. It's a series of beautiful buildings originally built for the cloistered nuns and while I believe some still live within the walls it's become the third most visited tourist attraction in Peru. It was quiet and pleasant to wander around. After this I visited the main square and killed an hour just people watching.

At 2pm I was picked up for the transfer to the bus station where a 10 hour bus ride to Nazca awaited me. 10 hours, gosh I've never been on a bus that long, hopefully the scenery is good! The bus was actually very comfy. Even more so than the one I had taken in Bolivia. I was on the upper deck and provided with a blanket, pillows and food. There were also movies playing (way too loudly, but nothing earplugs could not handle) and one was even in English. Good job too because about 2 hours out of Arequipa and the scenery just turned into desert and that was it! Sand, sand some more sand, oh a hut, more sand, sand. What's that over there ? More sand. I slept a bit and listened to my audio book (thank god I managed to down load that) and the time passed slowly. Finally we arrived in Nasca and by Midnight I was in bed.
