Raj: We've been chilling in Hue after our earlier day long excursion across the city and its outskirts. Yesterday we just hung by the pool, went to the Post Office, had a lovely meal across the road at a French restaurant followed by a visit to the night market. There was lightening in the distance which looked pretty cool in the dark sky (have a look at the video which only sort of captures the effect). Today we made an effort to get out and went to Cua Tung Queen beach, about 30 minutes out of Hue. Not as nice as Hoi An and it was disappointing to see a lot of rubbish washed up on parts of the beach. Still, it was nice for me to get out in the waves. An interesting sight we saw on the way to the beach were stretches of rice being dried out on the main road. Cars and bikes simply weaved their way around the grain. We followed up with a trip to the Hung Dao market where the kids bought their Vietnamese conical hats, followed ice cream, another dip in the pool and dinner. Tomorrow we take the night train to Hanoi. The kids are excited, not so much Vikki and I as the journey is 12 hours and we arrive at 5am - wonderful!
