Today is Raj's Birthday. Happy Birthday Raj.
We left Ho Chi Minh this morning and flew to Danang, and are now in Hoi An, about 45 minutes away. Hoi An is a Port Town, a place to get clothing made, not that we have any room in our packs to get more clothes, so every second shop has clothes. It is so much quieter than HCM, more like a village. Still has lots of motorbikes but easier to cross the road and generally move around. It was 38 degrees at lunchtime when we arrived so damn hot. Seems to be getting hotter as we go north which doesn't seem right as we are getting further away from the equator. We are staying in a very busy hotel, lots of backpackers. Feeling a bit like the old folks (compared to everyone else here) but hey we still feel young at heart! There's a small pool to use so the the kids are happy, as is Raj given that all the ladies wear bikini's! Classic.
We got our room upgraded (so to speak) and the kids have ended up in their own room (first time since we've left NZ) in separate beds so everyone is happy. Out for a birthday dinner tonight, a fabulous curry and once again ordered more than we can eat. They do doggy bags here so have taken the left-overs back with us, but not sure yet how we get to heat & eat.
A stop for ice cream on the way home, tubs of vanilla ice cream with a strawberry love heart finished off what hopefully has't been too bad a birthday.

Graeme Happy birthday Raj and glad you made it to Hoi An. Lovely town - and the beach down the road is not bad either. Good to see the photos of Langkawi - the cable car and the 7 pools. The pools are worth the climb and the cable car is just spectacular.
