Harley and Anouk: Today we went to the Tower of London. We saw lots of old buildings and ruins. We saw where one of the kings lived and his throne. We saw the room that he died in, when he was stabbed with a knife while he was praying.
Fact- One queen only ruled for 9 days before she was executed by her own husband.
We went to the torture room, where people were tortured with stretching racks and hanging irons. It was creepy how they could pull people apart. There is a memorial outside (a glass cushion) which remembers all of the people that were executed (usually by beheading).
One highlight of the day was seeing the Crown Jewels. Most were made of gold and decorated with beautiful jewels like diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires and pearls. The jewels are kept in a vault and the metal doors are almost 1 foot thick, so nobody can break in. We saw the Queen's and the Queen Mother's crowns.
On one of the grass areas we saw some large ravens and one of them was really cheeky because he kept climbing into the rubbish bins.
Later we walked over the Tower Bridge and then to Trafalgar Square. At the square there were big bronze lions which we climbed up. We also watched 3 people doing an acrobatic performance. Some of the tricks were side flipping over 2 people, rolling in hoops and balancing acts.
