Arrived in Hervey Bay and spent the first few hours in a big stress!! We had booked our Fraser Island trip at beginning of January and spoken to the girl in reservations about 3 times but turned up and they said they didn't have our booking on system. Even better they were fully booked and would have to see if anyone would be willing to go a day later on their trip. Arrived in Rainbow Beach on 17th January and stayed for two nights, got here and realised one night was probably enough as its a tiny little place!! First thing we did was head to the beach, was quite cloudy so didn't get best impression of it but is nice when sun comes out. Checked out the main street which took all of about ten minutes! Had three nights in Noosa and stayed at a YHA which was probably the nicest hostel we stayed in. Even gave us a free glass of wine on our first night....it was a really terrible tasting wine but we obviously drank it as it was free First afternoon just wandered to beach and down main street. Had two night in Brisbane which seemed like just about the right amount of time there. Stayed at Brisbane City Backpackers which was just about a 10 minute walk to the centre of the city. On the afternoon that we got there we had a wander around the centre, nice city and felt bit similar to Sydney only smaller. Arrived in Surfers Paradise on 10th January and stayed here for 3 nights at Aquarius Backpackers. This was our first experience of a proper hostel and having to share rooms!
