It was very odd backing in to dock at Laem Chabang, our port of call for Bangkok. The Holland America Line's cruise ship followed us in but went in forwards. Probably a lady driver!!!!!!! Guess whose writing this part of the blog.
Any way we had a lovely air conditioned coach to take us to Bangkok along the sky road and an excellent Thai lady for our guide.
Our first stop was the Sukhothai Traimit Golden Buddha image, made of pure gold and weighing approximately 5 tons, with a price value of 28.5 million pounds.

We then drove through the bustle of China town and the colourful local flower market and on to the Grand Palace. Here we explored the grounds and experienced the grandeur of an Ancient Siamese Court where Kings and Queens resided hundred of years ago. The palace grounds also encompass several major buildings, all topped by glittering spires and soaring finials, (so much bling, (for want of a better word) guess whose writing the blog now? Close to the Royal Residence is the monastery of the Emerald Buddha. This is one of Buddhism's magnificent monasteries, the amount of gold, jewels and glitter all around here was absolutely amazing.

We were then taken to a magnificent hotel, situated on the river bank, where we enjoyed a sumptuous Thai Lunch, absolutely delicious. After the much appreciated rest we went on to visit a jewellery factory and souvenir shop, and finally back to the ship - an absolutely fabulous day!!

We sailed through the night to arrive at the island of Ko Samui this morning. We went ashore by tender to the island, which is Thailand's third largest, and enjoyed the time spent on one of the many beautiful beaches here.

One day at sea and then we arrive at Singapore.
