Our World Cruise
Then onto Port Denarua where we anchored some distance away from the shore as the water is very shallow; we had only 5 metres below the ship. Denarau Island is formed by reclaimed mangrove swamp, and is a holiday resort with hotels, timeshare and residential complexes, golf and tennis centre, and a recently opened shopping centre and marina. There is a bridge connecting it to the largest island, Viti Levu (Great Fiji) of the Republic of Fiji. We got on a bus to Nadi Town where we visited a Hindu Temple, (there is a large Indo-Fijian population here) and the market with its fascinating display of Fijian fruit and vegetables.
