Today, we woke up very hungover and Sarah and I decided it was time to get a bus to Vientiane and then get bus to Vietnam, Hanoi! This was a random decision but we thought we’d be okay and in time for booking the buses!
We had lunch at our favourite baguette shop then went on the hunt to book a bus! It was harder than we thought! We finally found a bus that was going to Vientiane and decided to book! We didn’t have time to go and see Sadie and Jessie and say bye, we had to quickly go back pack and get to the office.
We finally boarded the minibus to Vientiane. This was just the start of the most horrendous journey! The mini bus was full of locals and took quite a while as we stopped off so many times. Each time we stopped they would pile in some groceries from a market. At one point they were stuffing all these beans and veg under Sarah’s feet, and the bags started to leak so it smelt of rotten vegetables!
We finally arrived at Vientiane where we went straight to a booking office to book our night bus to Vietnam. This is historically the worst border crossing you can do! So we booked and before we knew it we were on the coach to Vietnam. As usual we were chucked at the back and given the worst possible seats ever! It was like a sweaty little box at the back bottom of the bus! There were other seats but were insistent that we went there! Once the bus started moving, Sarah and I moved to a more humane seat!
