Ok so I ended up writing about our first day in Adelaide on the Singapore blog so maybe see that one first!Our first 'proper' day in Adelaide (we're not counting the actual first day as it was so rubbish!) was much better than the previous few days, I was feeling much better for a start.We had to check out of the 12 bed dorm named The Cave (thankfully!), ready to move into a smaller one later on. Then go and do a few things in town like book a follow up doctors appointment to get my test results from the hospital and see about getting the laptop fixed.We had a walk down Rundle Mall and did our favourite thing of looking in the shops!In the afternoon we set off on the walking tour set out in our guide book.Saw the parliament buildings, River Torrens, The Oval, then got a bit off track and stopped at a pub called The British!After a drink and a rest we carried on to the Botanic gardens, not that impressive I have to admit.We headed back to the hostel early evening and checked into the 7 bed dorm, the other 5 of our room mates were all German!They were friendly but we did feel a bit left out when they were all chatting away together!We had a Dominoes pizza for tea, its dangerous to have one right around the corner from the hostel!Then chatted to a very nice Irish guy who had the funniest stories I've ever heard!

Wednesday we were picked up for the Barossa valley winery tour, I was very excited about this!We were 2 of 15 people, quite a mix of people including some friendly Australian guys.The first stop we made on the way to the Valley was the Whispering Wall.It was made as a really big dam and then discovered that you can stand at one side and whisper and be heard at the other end of the wall!Also on the way we saw 2 wild kangaroos!At the first winery we had a little talk about all the different types of wines and then got to try about 3 whites, 3 reds and 2 ports to try.Tom and I fell in love with the one port and ended up buying a bottle, not really considering at the time how heavy it would be to carry!!The second winery was much the same with the tasting then we had lunch there.It was a platter of all local food, yum yum!The cheese was especially good!We also didn't manage to leave this one without spending anything, we bought a bottle of wine to go with lunch!!After lunch we went on a short walk across to the next winery, on the way we got to see the oldest shiraz vineyard in the world!The rest of the afternoon involved a lot more tasting and a slightly drunken journey back on the bus, such a great trip!Got back to the hostel in time for the free bbq and a killer pool competition.I came somewhere near last with most of the other girls and Tom came third!

Next morning we planned to hire bikes to look around the city a bit more.Well, bad idea!!!!I must be the least co-ordinated person in the world and when you put that together with a main road and lots of cars its just asking for trouble!Tom whizzed off down the road before I even had chance to get on my bike (he'll tell you he didn't but that's not true), then I got stuck at the traffic lights and couldn't see him anymore so decided to just keep riding straight!However, Tom had actually turned off and was waiting on a side road!...He couldn't believe that I didn't know my way around by now, well, sometimes I wonder if he knows me at all!!!!!Anyway, when he caught up with me he suggested taking the bikes back and walking instead, I agreed that was the safest plan!We actually ended up catching the tram to Glenelg, a little seaside town, kind of like Weston but nicer!Didn't go on the beach as it was really windy but we did have fish n chips, although they didn't quite beat the ones at home.To save some money in the evening we went to the shop and bought some baked beans, bread and mince pies to have for tea!It was our last night so we shared the mince pies around and said goodbye to Irish Shane, the drunken Korean girls and the many Germans we met!

Checked out of the hostel early this morning and went with Simone (a German girl who is heading the same way as us) to pick up our hire car from the airport.So we loaded up the car (Vauxhaul something or other which is called a Holden in Australia) and headed for the Great Ocean Road! It took a whole day of driving to get to Port Fairie, Tom did most of it and Simone did some (I wasn't old enough for the insurance).From here we'd be able to start the Great Ocean Road almost straight away in the morning.We checked into a YHA and by the time we'd cooked tea it was about time for an early night.

17th December Great Ocean Road Day!Just going to roughly try and explain what we saw today but its kind of impossible unless you see it, especially with my limited vocab!The first stop we made was to see the Grotto, kind of a big cave down in the rocks.Next the London bridge, quite self explanatory the rock looks like a bridge; and then the Arch (similar).The Twelve Apostles were a brilliant sight although we couldn't spot all 12!!We stopped several times to see different caves and rock formations.For the whole drive we were passing through amazing scenery along the coast, I was lucky that I wasn't able to drive the car so just got to look at the view the whole time!We also got to see wild koala bears!They were just sleeping in the trees right next to the road and there were loads of tourists getting out of their cars to take photos, quite a strange sight!We sadly didn't have time to stop at a place called Angelsea, which has the lighthouse where they filmed the childrens programme Round the Twist!! (does anyone remember it?!?!?!).
