We have started our trek east!, headed to capital reef nat'l park! Traveled through red canyons and vast, lush green ranches, spotted a herd of bison. Our campground, which is about 8 miles from the nat'l park has the most beautiful red cliff backdrop! Shayla is not feeling well, so Todd shayden and I venture into the park, again words can not describe the surrounding beauty! Pictures will not do it justice, I have found a rival for Bryce Canyon! We travel through a small town of Fruita, original orchard town of the 1800's, still many producing trees of all apple varieties and many other fruits. After the scenic drive, we chose an easy, 2 mile hike, parked at trail base and headed out, we figured out not far into it we started on the wrong trail but ventured on! It was an amazing hike, along the edges of the cliff formations, many switchbacks as we climbed our way to the golden throne! When we reached our golden destination, we sW the end of trail sign!, the hike was 2 miles each way!!, not round trip! Oops!, I was traveling with some unhappy hikers!! I loved it!( minus the complaining). The colors, the formations, the views all incredible!! We survived, got more than our 10,000 steps!!, and slept really well!!
