Zoe and Ed's Travels
Greetings from Bali,
We have spent the last 3 days on Gili Meno, a tiny island off Lombok. It was very relaxing as there isn't much there, and hardly any tourists (aprox 20), as it is the rainy season. Most time was spent lazing on the beach or on thatched platforms where we could shelter from the tropical downpours, or swimming and snorkelling. In the evenings we ate at a small Warung (restaurant) and sat round enjoying the guitar playing from the local guys, even joining in singing once enough beers had been drunk. On a couple of the days we walked 20 mins across the island to a good spot for snorkelling and the point where we could see the sunset over the mountain on Lombok. Unfortunately one day we managed to get caught in really heavy rain walking back. We headed back to Bali taking the small boat off the beach to Lombok, then a bus, then the ferry to Bali, then another bus (thankfully all arranged for us), and it took 12 hours in all. Today we have been taking it easy in Ubud: it has been raining quite a lot. We have found a nice place to stay with hot water (hooray!), and they serve good breakfast too. We don't have long left in Bali so are looking to get a day tour tomorrow, then go back to Kuta to be near the airport for our flight to Singapore.
