Hello everyone...
Hope all is well...
We're in Tassie right now...which is awesome! Thought we'd do a quick update!
Headed here on Sat night got in at 7 am Sunday...very strange night but it was worth it as it got us here..! Headed to the Tamar Valley then spent the night in Low Head...North East Tassie which was extraordinary, incredible scenery, penguins and a stunning view from our site at the camp! Went on Batman's Bridge...just for you Matty which was pretty random to be honest...a long days driving on and off for about 7 hours so we slept pretty well that night haveing slept on the floor on the boat!
Tuesday was another excessive day of driving (there's so much to see and this place is a lot bigger that you'd think) the roads are pretty tricky and it's very hilly so it takes longer than it looks too.... We went to a vineyrad one of which was called Jansz that had some amazing sparkling..mmmm Tim drove!!! Stopped at an incredible waterfall(the name had escaped both of us right now but when we put our photos on w'll have looked in our beloved LP and found out!!) Did some cheese tasting then headed to Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires...this was truly breathtaking..mucking around on a purely white sand beach...out of this world...! Stayed in St. Helen's that night...went for an evening walk found Oysters and Pelicans and a lovely local fishernman...
Now it was time to go to Coles Bay..the gateway to Freycinet National Park where Wineglass Bay is!! Via Bicheno where we did about a 6 K walk that led to a bird NP and an awesome Blowhole....worth every second in the chilly, windy wetather. Went for pancakes at Elephant Pass which was a very strange experience but well worth the horrific drive..in a car it would be fine though!! Then into the NP where we did Cape Tourville for a glimpse of Wineglass Bay, Sleepy Bay, The Hazards (300m Pink Granite Mountains) Little Gravelly Beach and Honeymoon Bay...all stunning!! Then a big nights sleep ready for our crazy trekking in the morning.
Up early...dressed and ready to go we got to the Wineglass Bay Lookout carpark and prepared ourselves for a total of 1200 steps 600 each way...every single one worth the effort...it was an incredibly steep climb with admittedly a few stops on the way and at the top a Wallaby hanging out whilst we looked over the most incredibly vista...Wineglass Bay....Magical..! When we finally got down there was a mummy wallaby aith a joey in her pouch...adorable even made us forget the pain in our legs!!!
After leaving Coles Bay we headed up to the Friendly Beaches and drove down to Hobart where we played crazy pitch and putt and had some awesome battered trevalla and chips on the Hobart waterfront with all the gulls!
Heading back up north today to see the north west of the island...may stop at another vineyard or two on the way...its all about the resting between drives you know!!!
Heaps of love to everyone, we will add photos later!!
