Fri 9 Nov we left Rotorua campsite and had a fairly long drive down the East Coast of the North Island. We visited a paying attraction on the way out of Rotorua which was a huge park of natural thermal springs (photos to follow!). Very impressive though. We stopped at Hukka Falls a famous Waterfall outside of Lake Taupo, stopped at Lake Taupo for the stunning view, watched some Skydivers, then on a long drive through stunning scenery through the middle of the country from West to East, ending up at Paekakariki which is about hour away from Wellington. We parked up for the night in Paekakariki by a beach, watched a sunset chez beer and then had a nice meal. Nice sleepy, quiet town..Woke up to another quiet day on the Saturday, watched a guy go out on his canoe for fish then left for Wellington. Cloudy day in Wellington so my photos of view are not as good as this!. However had a nice day, wnet up the hill to look at the view, visited the Museum 'Te Papa', is its Maori name, spent a couple of hours there as its huge and interactive, also we were lucky enough to be there when the NZ symphony orchestra were playing the score from Carmen (Bizet) so that was nice. Wandered around town, had a nice Indian meal (can recc the restaurant to anyone whose interested!) and a few drinks at a bar - nite on the town in Wellington. Nice City, liked it a lot.
