Switzerland is my favorite country so far. London may have been more fun but Switzerland was the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. It's amazing the different temperatures you can go through just by going to the top of the mountain. Which is exactly which we did. We took the train to the highest station in Europe. I can't explain how beautiful and calming the view was. You have to see it for yourself in order to understand.
At the top of the mountain we went into an ice palace and went sledding. I was a little disappointed by the sledding hill. It was a small lil bunny hill but I guess for those who've never seen snow or play in it then it would be great. Our Aussie friends went sledding with us and they loved it. It was hilarious watching them! Although it would have been free in Michigan for the hill, it was still worth the 15 euro for the experience.
That night we went to the bar at our campsite and danced the night away. The people on the trip are awesome! They're so much fun. Nearly all of them are from Perth, Australia the rest from other areas in Australia. There are 6 American girls (apparently that's a record high), 3 South American girl, 1 Girl from England, 1 couple from Tiawan, 2 girls from New Zealand. The remainding 30 something are Aussies. Good news, no one judged me for sleeping the whole time on the first drive.
We got to Nice on Thursday night and went right to bed after dinner. Yesterday we went into town and did some shopping. I got a cute potential wedding dress for one of the weddings I'll be going to when I get home :) After some splurging we hit one of the many topless beaches in Europe.
The water was more blue than in Greece but not as clear and it was a pebble beach. It was kinda comfy once your arranged the pebbles around your body comfortably. We swam in the Mediterranean sea for a while and during one of our swimming sessions something got a hold of me and I thought for sure a shark had gotten me and I was going down. Nope, it was a creepy French guy! He swam under the water and grabbed my leg!! I think even in the french culture that's weird! We couldn't communicate because of the language barrier but we should have said " Touche pas!"
Note to self: don't attempt to put sunscreen on your own back... you'll have funky burn lines!
When we got back to the hotel we got all dolled up to go to the Grand Casino. The one that James bond played at in the latest Bond film. We also drank some champagne in celebration of Hailey turning 20 at midnight! She successfully got the most drunk of all of us and I was not at all! The bus ride to the casino started out great. Everyone was excited, and typsie and we were jamming to great music. What was suppose to only be an hour trip ended up taking 2 1/2 due to traffic.
Once we got there we only had about an hour and a half of gambling or whatever it is that we wanted to do. There were Ferraris, Mazaraties and Lambourginis everywhere! I was thoroughly disappointed by the grand casino however. I guess I was expecting something like Vegas. I was way off. It cost 10 euro just to get in and there was only two small rooms and we were practically the only ones there. It was a big let down.
But, we were in Monaco, the second richest country in the world! Michael Jackson and Tina Tunner live(d) there. Along with many other rich and famous people. The view was beautiful.
Next stop: Florence!
Word of the day: Touche pas!!! = DON'T TOUCH ME!
