Morning all, arrived here in Krakow after leaving Barcelona yesterday afternoon, not without minor dramas at the airport either. Here now. Had a stroll around the old town square last night, the picture is the Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven. Every hour a trumpet signal sounds called the Hejnal Mariacki (sounds a bit like the last post). The tune breaks off mid-stream to commemorate the 13th century trumpeter who was shot in the throat while sounding the alarm before the Mongol attack on the city.
The square is flanked by restaurants with the Sukiennice in the centre. It is an old market which I understand is still in use today. Jeannie and I will just have to check it out today whilst the guys are off to Auchwitz and the salt mines.
The value of our dollar is much better here too, $1 will get us 3 zloty's. A full meal last night came to 9 zloty's. Was nice to have a meal after the bread, bread and more bread in Spain. I can't believe those people are so thin!
Take care and love to all XXX
