Ahhhhhhh....Magnetic Island, well needed after the last ten days of madness & mayhem!! Magnetic Island is a small rainforest Island that has sunshine 352 days of the year....a perfect way to relax.... or so we thought!! We arrived after a long bus and ferry journey to be met by the glorious sunshine!! we dumped our bags in our busy ten man dorms and headed to the swimming pool, after a relaxing afternoon we met up with some guys some Welsh one from Argentina and another from london, they invited us to have a drink with them on the beach & watch the sun go down.....what an awesome experience....so peaceful & inspiring...we talked about are different cultures alot about Wales and south America....also reasons why we were travelling where we had been and where we were going, we found it very inspirational and sooo not the normal thing to do on a random afternoon, fabulous!!
On day 1 we walked for six hours...... trecking through the bush in a hope to see Koalas in the natural habitat, we unfortunally didn't get so much as a glimese but the walking did us good I suppose....even if it was 30+ degrees in the middle of the day!! good experience though......
Easter day...because we could'nt get each other an easter egg to celebrate (They just didnt sell them on this little island anywhere!!) we decided to go out for a meal and treat ourselves to something other than backpacker food!! & that we did, we walked about andother hour and a half to the nearest resturant, but it was well worth it....it was a mexican like no other, and because it was a treat we felt sooo lucky!! @ the resturant we met with a couple form Melbourne a principle and his teacher wife, after a very intellectual converation putting the world to rights (you can just imagine) they said they found we were vey passionat young girls and invited us to go see they're schools when we arrived in Melbourne, we were happy to take their details and will definatly be making the visit!! What an easter to remember............Magnetic Island was just what we needed!!
