BRATISLAVA - "come and get cuddled!" - THe slogan on the tourist map....

On advice from Woodas cousin and a crazy American thought we would pop over to Bratislava, Slovakia as it is about 1 hr from Vienna by bus. Arrived with nowhere to stay so we walked to the only hostel we had an address for, to find they were full. Everywhere was full (or so he said) except for Mr Jurajs hostel. He came to pick us up - dodgiest looking guy ever, got into his dodgy looking car and drove into the dodgy suburbs of Bratislava to find a dodgy looking wooden door with a sign no bigger than a loaf of bread saying Hostel. Once inside though we discovered what became our favourite hostel. The way it is set up makes it feel like you are living in a home instead of a hostel. Beds are found everywhere, large kitchen and bathrooms and plenty of space to meet people and hang in the garden. Juraj is cool, the whole place is so layed back and we met some cool people including 2 guys and a girl from leeds (england) who we chilled with until the 2 guys started to have a domestic which made it a tad awkward...

Picked up a three dollar litre bottle of wine on our first night. Couldnt find the alcohol content so Wooda was convinced it was non alcoholic. After half a bottle had to check if he still thought so as he had become rather tipsy and grinning lots!

Really wasnt much to see in Bratislava - saw the castle (not all that interesting, but you can go down and see the well) but the hostel made it a memorable stay as well as the delicious traditional food we had at the Slovak Pub today before heading back to Vienna - dumplings, slovak pasta and sheeps cheese (and really cheap too!!)

Bratislava is a bit like an attractive bimbo - nice to lok at for an afternoon and spend a night with but once youve walked all over her and discovered there is nothing below the surface you will have no problem moving on in the morning.

Nice hostel, cool people, cheap beer and wine, but we left without a cuddle!!
