Yesterday after arriving we checked into the hostel and had a well deserved rest day. After 6 weeks on the move, tiredness began to hit so we spent the day catching up with family, locking kittens in our room and reading books. Up bright and early to get this show on the road. The gibbon experience was one of the main things we had been looking forward to due to many people recommending it. Firstly we watched a safety video and all that jazz before heading off in a tuk tuk for a 1 hour drive into the jungle accompanied with our jungle buddies for the night ronnie and robin.
Once we arrived we popped on our harnesses and off we began for the 2 hour trek. Before we all came travelling we had participated in various gym regimes and classes in order to build our strength for events like this. But boy god, we sweated like absolute pigs. Turns out none of us are as fit as we believed ourselves to be and an uphill struggle carrying rucksacks and harnesses proved that to us. However once we had finished the gruelling two hour trek, we had finally made it! TIME TO ZIPWIRE! All 9 zip wires were incredible and like nothing we had experienced before. Some were fast, high, slow and just genuinely amazing! Definitely worth the extra money we had spent! Next stop our home for the night, a tree house suspended 36metres above the ground. The only way in was via a ZIPWIRE, it was so cool! A quick 1 hour rest to catch our breath, before off for another 4 zipwires! After a tiring but great day it was time to head back to the tree house for a shower (which overlooked the whole jungle, felt slightly strange standing their butt naked!) and some food. Then the guides left us as we watched the sunset before chatting and then eventually drifting off to bed. However due to Charlotte being a weirdo, she woke Georgie up in the night and told her two men were in the treehouse only to realise they were actually trees and nodded straight back off leaving Georgie panicking! Standard mum of the group!
