Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada
Got a good start this morning. We decided to avoid the Quebec morning rush hour so we went to the grocery store to wait it out.
Food in these parts is expensive. Everything seems to be priced at $4.95 per - bread, veggies, milk - everything. Beef here is on average about $11/lb. I'm raising cattle in the wrong place!! (-:
The highway we took out of Quebec is Hwy 138 that runs along the North bank of the St. Lawrence. Very hilly driving through some gorgeous conifer forests. Taking this highway has caused a little discord because the technology estimates of time in route and the actual times in route are much slower. For those travelers among us who make a plan and have to execute the ever increasing likelihood that the Planned destination will not be reached today is like a small rock in the shoe. We'll get through this disappointment and hopefully abandon all this planning, relax and drive the 'conditions'.
I now with some authority can comment on Quebecian hamburgers. In order to break the tension and raise the blood sugar, we stopped at a small joint outside Les Escoumins and ordered cheeseburgers and fries. Not the hamburger taste I am use to but very eatable. Can't wait to critique the sea food. (-:
