Hi Everyone,
Have had a busy couple of days, that's the problem with holidays there is always so much to see and do while enjoying yourself!!!
We managed to be ready for the day on Sunday morning by 9.00am and were able to leave the car parked right outside the B & B being a Sunday parking can be a problem in Bath as there is a lot of streets closed to traffic.
We did the 10 minute walk into the city and headed for "The Old Roman Baths" the temple was commenced around 60 - 70 AD with the ancient baths being built over the next 300 years. We spent the next almost 3 hours enthrawled by the magnificence of this extremely old structure. The above picture is only a fraction of what you can see and experience, we both found it very interesting.
We next walked down to the river Avon that loops around the city of Bath, it's not very wide but quite pretty. We found a small cafe nearby for lunch before we returned back to the car to head for Biggleswade or should I say Langland, and Janice and Nigel's house.
We put sally to work again, she told us it would take 2.5 hours to get there so we estimated we would arrive about 3.30pm. Janice had mentioned that Matt would be playing football untill 4.00ish, we passed by the football ground and decided to turn round to see if it was Matt and his team - yes it was and we actually saw the winning goal kicked by Matt's team.
Although Matt had grown over a foot in the 5 years since our last visit I was able to pick him out and we were able to take him home after the game.
Great to see Janice, Nigel and Hannah (Ben is away at Uni in Holland) both Hannah and Matt have grown heaps, we all had a lovely evening chatting.
Monday morning with the sun shinning again but a real chill in the air and a frost on the ground I enjoyed a brisk half hour walk, had to walk fast to keep warm!!!
We had contacted our old friends Ron and Marianne who live in the enchantingly named village of Milton Earnest, just outside Bedford and not too far away from Biggleswade. We arranged to drive to see them this morning, they both look well especially as they will both be 80 in two months time.
We drove back to Janice and Nigel's house to relax and enjoy the family.
And so ends another lovely day of our happy travels
Chat again soon.
