Hi Everyone,
We are again on the move, but first what we did yesterday.
We needed to catch up on washing so the morning was spent doing this while chatting with Diane.
In the afternoon we drove to MacDuff house which is next to the Duff Royal Golf Course, we spent a pleasant hour wandering around the parkland area next to MacDuff House. It is a very pretty woodland area alongside the golf couse and as you walk along a lake comes into view, everywhere there is beautiful display of snowdrops with the odd patch of daffodills thrown in - lovely. It's still quite cool, coat and glove weather but it's sunny and not windy. After our walk Diane being a Duff Royal Golf member took us into the golf club lounge for lunch. We whilled away another pleasant hour having lunch and watching the golfers play the 18th hole.
We went to the Springs Hotel for dinner in Banff, quite a glamorous place, good service, lovely surroundings, good food and fantastic company.
Leaving Diane's this morning was sad, she is such a special person to us, we managed to be on the road before 9.00am and made good time driving to Aberdeen. The weather is beautiful clear blue skies, cool only about 10c but the sun is warm and everything looks better when the sun's shinning.
We stopped in Aberdeen for a bit of a look around, we soon found the Cathedral Church of St Machar in a very old part of Aberdeen we had talked of seeing. Again I was enthrawled by the magnitude of the soaring carved ceilings, archways and beautiful stained glass windows. The cathedral was commenced in 1050 taking about 400 years to build, amazing to think of all the man power it would have taken.
After a drive around the city centre of Aberdeen we drove further south along the coast, stopping at the small pretty coastal town of Stonehaven for lunch.
We next headed for Perth, just had to take a look at the city our Perth was named after. Not a bad quite old city, we parked in the city centre for a look around, has many old historic buidings and lots of shops.
We drove on to Angela's via Callendar a very pretty route passing snow capped mountains in the distance and Lochs along the way, arriving at 3.30pm to the charming village of Strathaire and Angela's lovely 3 storey turn of the century home. Lovely to catch up with Angela again and we felt quite at home staying in the same bedroom as we did last time.
Chat again soon.
