Hello everyone,
Its that time again and i have a good week in Sydney to update you all with.
As you know last monday was my birthday, and Alice and I celebrated in style. The night began with a few drinking card games in the dorm before we went down to the hostel bar for a steak dinner (with extra birthday chips). We were joined by a few of our friends from home who were also in Sydney at the time and there was a group of about 10 of us which was really great fun. Monday night in the hostel bar was 'Karaoke night' and after a few drinks the hits, such as Jackson 5 - I want you back and Shania Twain - You're still the one, were flowing. Im afraid after being plied with birthday drinks all night i only made it til 1 am before i had to go home...
The hostel, Base, which we are staying in is the best hostel in the world! We started out in a 10-man dorm and the people we were with are great. They're all english and come from all over, including a Craig David look-a-like who is the funniest guy we have ever met. He seems to have an aptitude for making up games on the spot, one of which consisted of putting on a sleeping blindfold and being spun around by everyone for as long as they could without falling over. It then escalated to being spun round 30 times and then trying to stand on a stool. It then escalated to getting brett in the lift with about 6 of us spinning him round, going to a random floor, pushing him out and scarpering back to our floor leaving him to find his own way back! All this happened at about 2am - i bet the rest of the hostel love us...
Thursday night was also a birthday night, with our friend morgan turning 19. We went out again to celebrate his birthday and ended up going to a club which Alice couldnt get into because she forgot her ID. Being the gentlemen we are, we still went in and left alice and catriona to find somewhere else! The night ended by walking home in a very convoluted manner, and splashing around in a fountain for fun.
Brett and I are now back travelling on our own as Alice and Catriona left for Byron Bay yesterday. We decided it would be nice to spend our last day together and had a picnic in the park. It was an emotional goodbye and although there were no tears i could tell the girls were sad to be leaving us....
As for our plans, we are leaving Sydney on Tuesday and heading up to Byron Bay, with a one night stop off at Surf Camp where we get a free surfing lesson.
Until next time,
Will x
