So before we even headed to Tahoe, Laura had already disregardd it as some sort of tacky lake resort, and heading in over the mountain, and discovering South Lake Tahoe, and the Nevada signs, it seemed she was not too far wrong. So in an aim to please her we ignored the RV park on the south shore, and decided to head slightly further north, to find a campsite, and then head into town later to catch some Halloween celebrations as it was the Saturday before the big day. So off we drove, and drove, and drove, and finally found an RV park 1 hour later, only to find it had closed for season, and he pretty much made out everywhere else would be too. See we hit Tahoe some would say at the worst time, just after the summer season, with watersports on the lake, and just before the big ski season was to set in. But still determined we drove on, and on and on, for about another hour, twas now close to 9, until we hit Tahoe Citiy on the North shore. A little bit defeated by now, we saw a motel on the edge of town and thought screw it lets see if we tell them our sob story they will give us a good rate, and that they did $33 a night, bargain! So for the next 3 days we had hot showers, free wifi, and lived it up in a cheap motel, leaving tom Harvey all cold and lonely. But we were happy, somehow in the dark we had stumbled across our perfect area of Tahoe, Tahoe city was a lovely little village right on the water with cute shops, and yummy restaurants and lovely and quiet. So for the next few days we just chilled, walked by the lake, sat in the sunshine with soup and chilli. We even managed to stretch as far to take a speedboat out on the lake one day, and due to the season found we were the only ones on the peaceful and still lake, taking in the stunning scenery as we drove up to emerald bay, the most beautiful spot on the island for lunch. Probably our most strenuous activity here was Halloween though, missing the main action on Saturday we decided to join in on the action on Monday night, so we headed to the local thrift store, spent a couple of bucks on some make shift outfits, and headed to the local wine bar where they were doing a Halloween tasting. We tasted wines such as the red devil, from Washington, and a rich Zin 'The Prisoner' whilst munching on a cheese and salmon plate, in this awesomely scarily decorated wine bar. All the locals had gone to town, with people dressed as wolves, medusa, little red riding hood and so forth, our frith outfits weren't quite up to scratch bet hey ho! And it was here we met the lovely Dawn, the 'tahoe wine girl' who gave us a massive wine tasting, and set up lots of amazing tastings in Napa where we were heading next. Happy with our night at our local wine bar, we procedded to the hisctoric town of Truckee, to watch a Halloween themed Michael Jackson and Stevie wonder tribute band in the famous Moodys, however laura had, had a few too many to drink so we headed home soon after, and with a hangover in tow, we got up the next morning and headed to our next destination, napa. However, with another stop in Truckee, having not appreciated it due to the booze the night before, we stumbled across the best cookie ever, macademia nuts, melting white chocolate and orange zest, this picked us up and gave us some fuel to 'truck on', and we soon arrived at our next destination; Napa Valley, ready for some serious wine tasting.
